After retiring, a question I have been asked, especially by my wife and children,
Growing up my father had a parts and services shop in Florida. When I wasn't at school I was helping him fix engines and other parts for customer's lawn mowers, vehicles, tractors, etc.
Then when I was on active service with the U.S. Army I worked on tanks to ensure they not only ran but didn't fall apart on my fellow service men. Fixing machinery and tinkering with mechanical parts just has always been something I was good at.
After I left military service and transitioned into work for U.S. Customs as an officer I became a certified fire arms instructor. It is the experience I gained in ensuring my fellow officers understood how to maintain and use their weapon properly during while on duty that I think my ability and passion for gunsmithing came to fruition.
As I approached my retirement I reflected on what I wanted to do and gunsmithing seemed like a great fit. I get to continue to do something I am passionate about as well as provide ethical, quality gunsmithing service to the Luna County area.
